At the time, the computer was the top of the line. It had a 33 mhz processor and a 40 megabyte hard disk drive. It used a Disk-Operating System fondly referred to as D.O.S. The system did have a graphical user interface of Windows 3.1 but had minimal commands options through it.
My Packard Bell 286 by today's standards would be more suited for a boat anchor but this computer will always have a fond place in my heart. This feeling is similar to a teen's first car or some one first love. I will always remember my Packard Bell 286 and the joy and wonder it brought to my life.
